Been running around most of the last week trying to get the gears for some stuff I need to get a jump on going. Basically it was revealed to me last month during a meeting that my job scope at work would soon be changing.
This is due to news that my department would basically be outsourced to India sometime in the next 10 to 14 month. Not really surprising at first, as this is the trend nowadays, especially in my industry. However I have had the various managers come up to talk with me and the rest of my team about “options” to a point that I think this deal is going to go down much much sooner than 10 months.
So in order to make the most of the time I still have now, I had to push forward my plans for taking certification courses for skills upgrading where I can make use of any possible cost subsidies that my company qualifies for. I figured to best to do so now instead of waiting to see what happens later which could deny me the time or opportunity to take courses as there are a few that I would like to take in order for me to go into the career track that I’m interested in.
As such, the first course I’m doing is already pretty much set up. Going to be burning weekends for the next month or so and that’s not counting all the extra self study that I will have to put in after. As for the changing job scope, I’m technically still under bond, and so it’s somewhat comforting that my C.V is being passed around in “internal circles” with hopes that there will be something for me to move into and not let the investment that they have already placed on me go to waste (hence the above mentioned bond).
All I can do is hope and pray is that there is something not too divergence from what I’m doing now and that it is in an area that I’m interested in.
