Changing of Tides

Falchion’s Note: I would just like to clarify just how fast all this took place. Everything from first call to ink on paper took place in ONE day. I practically went through 3 interviews that day and in the end got the job. That’s like unheard of. And I would still be in total shock (and I think it still hasn’t fully sunk in yet), if it weren’t for the fact that this weren’t actually unexpected.

Amazing how fast things can turn around some times. As of a few hours ago, I’ve signed a contract stating that I am now a wilfully employed full-time personnel of an IT support company.

I start next Monday.

Not really sure what I can disclose at this point of time, but basically I’m part of the Unix support and solutions call centre team. I’ll be answering calls and Emails and trying to assist customers with whatever problems they may have with their Unix servers.

Of course to do this, I will have to undergo quite a fair amount of training and even get certified. And because of the investment that the company will be taking with me, I’ll be bonded for a couple of years. Well that’s one way of getting job security.

All in all, I’m looking forward to it. The beginning training period may seem like a bummer on paper but at least I’m getting paid to study. Added to the fact that what I will be studying will (actually) have a direct application to what I will be doing, and since the computer industry is all about constant upgrading and learning of new skills anyway, then this is actually very beneficial.

And so it begins I guess. The close of yet another life chapter and the start of another big one. Tides are a changing indeed. I have to be mindful and thankful of how this came about. The timing is indeed too coincidental to be…well…coincidental. Praise Him be the glory.

Is that all you can think about dude? You could at least ask like what company it was or where my office will be.

Big congrats! So is this more “what I would like to do” than “it’ll be okay for now” kinda thing?

  4. Falchion says:

oh definitely. I always wanted to do something to support and help maintain back-end server systems. I was expecting something along the lines of Windows server or Linux, but Unix is not too far from Linux and is still widely in use. The company is paying for me to get trained and certified so yeah, its a pretty good deal.

  5. Daryn says:
