What they said…

Just came across an interesting blog(s) via Rice bowl Journals. Lockload.com is actually two blogs in one, written by a couple who have gone through many years in a long-distance relationship and overcoming it. In their blogs they discuss many topics but with each giving their His or Her view on things. Of course they each touch on other stuff apart from each other but I find it more enjoyable when they “crossover” so to speak.

I originally had an idea for something similar back when I first discovered blogs about 4-5 years ago. I was thinking that it would be pretty cool if Ebb Tide and I where to do one up together. Especially since she was studying to be a journalist at the time and had such a great sense of humour, she would be perfect blogger material. I would have to play catch up of course, but I was looking to improve my writing anyway. Furthermore, it would be a great way for her to keep friends and family in touch with how she was overseas. She wasn’t keen on the idea though and so I shelved it, planning to bring it up again at later date.

Anyway when I finally did start a blog about a year and a half later, almost to this date, we had already broken up for about 6 months. No more double blog and I guess keeping in touch was no longer a priority. And thus that’s how this blog has been ever since.

I figured that I would be peeved if I where to ever find a blog that used the same idea (even though I doubt that I was to first to come up with it and that I won’t be the last), but I was actually very pleased to see what Andrew and Sinta had done. The use of a three-column format but with the two sides being the actual blogs and the centre being the “sidebar” for links and stuff is a brilliant design. Added to the fact that they seem to be such a happy and loving couple who has gone through something that would stop most other relationships cold, I can’t help but feel happy for them. Guess I’m not as bad a person as I think I am at times. *shrugs*

Oh and all those times where I mentioned that I’ve been thinking of changing to a 3-column format myself? I may never actually go through with it….guess I’m still waiting for something or someone to fill that empty space.
