Gobble Gobble

The Turkey that we got this Christmas is totally excellent. It’s one of those rare times in a dish where everything is prefect, you know? And I mean everything. Even the sauce and stuffing is top-notch and I usually skip the stuffing in previous years. I would eat this turkey all the way till the new year. And it looks like that will happen too.

This early morning hangout at Fe’s place was enjoyable. Had a cool new boardgame called Runebound to learn. Normally I’ll be all over that, but the over-used fantasy theme kinda put me off at first. But the good company and fun in interacting with the others while playing eventually overcome that and we played for 4 hours straight. Kinda like the last time where we played round after round of Chez Geek after most of us had learnt the rules. I remember once many years ago that I said that card games would be an important part of mobile in-person gaming. Looks like I was wrong to a certain extend, in the fact that it wasn’t the collectable card games that I was refeering to back then, but it’s the self-contained card games that will hold a special place in party games and quick pick-ups in various locations.

Another thing about this morning that put a joy in my heart was watching how Fe and his girlfriend Rth, who had elected to join us in staying over, interacted with each other in a more comfortable enviroment and around others. I have to say that it’s one of the most uplifting example of a relationship I have seen in a long time. She was totally at ease just hanging out casually with Fe and us, even though she hasn’t really spent time with us before. And that put us at ease with having her around as well. She laughed at our jokes, knew when we would go off on a geek tangent but was able to keep up and even showed interest in what we were playing. As for Fe, he didn’t act any different with her around and kept her included in conversations and the game. Seeing this lifts up my faith in relationships and the fact that there are some really nice and caring girls out there still.
