Figured that I should make a crack at the US election, since I am a blogger after all.But seriously, this has nothing to do with politics.
Now the market of Social networks all started with the first one, but has since splintered into different networks all catering to different themes or views. Instead of just friends, there are now networks for neighbours, gamers, business, by invitation only and so forth. You can see a grand list of them here.
While intriguing a year ago, I have felt that these types of services have lost their appeal over the last couple of months, with everyone keeping to what they know and not having much interest in trying or moving on to other services…
…So naturally the services change to match the market. And in which the newest trend seems to combinding the network part of the service with something that we do as part of our daily lives anyway.
Case in question is StumbleUpon, with it’s basic function of providing users a way to discover new websites of interest recommended by other users with similar interest. On top of that, users can provide short reviews of the websites to discover what others think about them. And if you like what a certain user says about a website, you can click on his/her name to see what other websites they have rated and reviewed. Digging deeper, you can approve other users as friends and be able to directly suggest to them what nice websites that you have stumbled on. And thus, a social network is formed.
I think they might be on to something there. I mean, what do we do more on the net than surf websites? And then tell others about the cool ones that you have found? I have used this blog to do the same thing myself.
So I think that it is worth trying out, I love to find new websites to add to my collections. And I would love to hear about any that you have found yourself.
You can check out my StumbleUpon link list here.
